Mojo Vision today announced $24.4 million in additional funding under an Other Transaction Authority agreement through the Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Industrial Base Policy (OASW(IBP)), with $20M in funding from its Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) program and $4.4M from U.S. Army Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5ISR). Mojo’s largest government award to date will strengthen the defense industrial base, boost domestic manufacturing and advance its micro-LED platform through the development of monolithic full-color microdisplays for near-eye augmented reality applications.

Mojo's Micro-LED Platform

Mojo’s Micro-LED Platform

The program will develop ultra-bright, monolithic microdisplays using Mojo’s proprietary quantum dot color conversion. The displays are designed to improve brightness and reliability while reducing size, weight and power – giving warfighters more comfortable equipment and better situational awareness. Advances in the underlying micro-LED technology, CMOS integration, and wafer scale manufacturing are also expected to strengthen the shared platform behind Mojo’s display and optical interconnect businesses.

“This award accelerates our work to put ultra-bright, full-color displays into the hands of the warfighter and strengthen America’s ability to manufacture them,” said Nikhil Balram, CEO of Mojo Vision. “We built Mojo around a simple idea: the same micro-LED technology that changes how people see information can change how computing systems move data. This program strengthens the technology and manufacturing foundation behind both.”

The Department of War previously underscored the importance of a secure domestic supply: “Microdisplays are crucial components in delivering information to the joint warfighter and are integrated into solutions across all domains including heads-up-displays for pilots, advanced night vision goggles, weapon optics, and unmanned systems,” said the Assistant Secretary of War for Industrial Base Policy, the Honorable Michael Cadenazzi. “Securing a domestic supply of advanced MicroLED displays is vital for the Department’s next-generation defense applications, ensuring both performance and security.”
