MyndBridge partners with Northwell Health’s Center for Gun Violence Prevention to bring health-centered violence prevention to Hempstead youth.
HEMPSTEAD, NY, UNITED STATES, October 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Following the recent announcement of Safe Spaces After Dark, MyndBridge, Inc. today welcomed Northwell Health’s Center for Gun Violence Prevention as an esteemed partner in the MyndBridge-led youth prevention initiative launching in Hempstead.
The partnership represents an important next step for Safe Spaces After Dark, bringing Northwell’s specialized perspective in health-centered violence prevention into a model MyndBridge created to expand young people’s access to support, opportunity and trusted relationships beyond traditional service hours.
For MyndBridge, Northwell’s involvement reflects the collaborative approach envisioned from the beginning: MyndBridge leads the initiative while bringing together organizations with distinct expertise to build a more comprehensive network of prevention and opportunity around young people.
“When we announced Safe Spaces After Dark, we made it clear that this could not be built in isolation,” said Isaiah Grigg, Founder and CEO of MyndBridge. “The model is about bringing the right people and institutions around young people at the right time. Northwell’s leadership in prevention and community health makes them an invaluable partner in helping us bring that vision to life.”
Bringing Prevention Expertise to Safe Spaces
Northwell Health’s Center for Gun Violence Prevention brings a health-centered perspective to one of the most complex challenges facing communities and young people.
Its work recognizes violence prevention as a public health issue and advances approaches that bring health care, prevention, education and community engagement together.
“We are proud to be a partner on this essential pilot. Safe Spaces After Dark addresses the significant need for programming that bridges gaps and connects young people in our communities to the essential services, mentors, and workforce development skills that will not only help increase their safety but also empower their long-term success.”

Through the partnership, Northwell’s expertise will complement MyndBridge’s work across youth development, education, workforce readiness, mentorship and community-based programming, strengthening the broader prevention framework surrounding participating young people.
Building the Safe Spaces Ecosystem
Safe Spaces After Dark was intentionally designed by MyndBridge as more than a standalone program. The initiative brings together organizations with different areas of expertise around a shared objective: ensuring young people can access meaningful support, relationships and opportunities beyond traditional service hours.
Northwell Health’s Center for Gun Violence Prevention joins LI TEAMWorks, The B.E.S.T. Inc., and The Inspirational Lawyer as partners working alongside MyndBridge to execute the Hempstead initiative.
MyndBridge will oversee the initiative, coordinate its partner network, lead participant programming and engagement, and develop the broader community referral infrastructure surrounding the program.
The organization is also building relationships with schools, social-service and mental health providers, employers, faith-based institutions, law enforcement, probation and Family Court stakeholders, elected officials and community organizations to create multiple pathways for connecting young people to Safe Spaces and the resources available through its network.
Safe Spaces After Dark Launch Details
The Hempstead pilot will serve up to 60 young people ages 16–24, three days per week. Registration opens October 15, 2026, with programming beginning November 4, 2026. Participants will have access to stipends, meals, mental health and wellness support, mentoring, career and workforce development, life-skills programming, and creative and recreational activities.
