A limited-edition collection of fragrance, incense and ritual objects created through scent, historical research and the forgotten language of the medieval world
LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESS Newswire / October 26, 2026 / Following the success of the NOSFERATU fragrance, Heretic Parfum, Focus Features, and Robert Eggers reunite for an all-new WERWULF collaboration. A limited-edition collection of fragrances and objects created to inhabit the brutal, superstitious and profoundly sensory world of the film.
Developed over nearly two years by Heretic founder and perfumer Douglas Little, the collection began with a deceptively simple question:
What does a Werwulf smell like?
The answer became something far larger than a single perfume.
With access to the world of the film and creative guidance from filmmaker Robert Eggers, Little immersed himself in its landscape, mythology and period. Historical research and consultation with an Oxford scholar informed the medieval language, symbolism and visual vocabulary used throughout the collection, allowing Heretic to approach the project less as conventional film merchandise and more as a form of olfactory archaeology.
The resulting objects feel as though they might have been excavated from the world of Werwulf: fragrances as memories, symbols as warnings, incense as ritual and language that seems to have survived from another century. At the center of the collection are three fragrances, each conceived as a different witness to the world of the film:
ÞE WODE HATH TETH
The Forest.
An olfactory warning: the wood has teeth. Cold air, fractured timber, resin, mineral earth and the breath of pine evoke the medieval forest not as scenery, but as a living presence-ancient, indifferent and capable of consuming those who enter it.
WERWULF
The Transformation.
The scent of the beast awakening beneath human skin. Animalic, earthen and intimate, WERWULF explores the threshold between man and animal-the moment when civility gives way to something older. Skin, damp earth, root, resin and the suggestion of wet fur create a fragrance that feels bodily and unnervingly alive. Rather than treating lycanthropy simply as infection or attack, the fragrance explores one of the film’s central ideas: the beast that lives within us all.
BLODWODE
The Memory.
Blood returned to the earth.
Dark florals, spice, iron, woods and decomposing petals create the impression of something once beautiful being reclaimed by the forest. BLODWODE explores violence not through gore, but through what remains afterward-the metallic trace of blood, crushed vegetation and the strange sweetness of decay.
Together, the three fragrances form an olfactory triptych:
The forest.
The transformation.
The blood that remains.
Throughout the collection, scent is joined by a carefully researched system of language and symbols. Middle English-inspired words and orthography appear across bottles, packaging and printed matter, while symbols developed for the collection were informed by historical research rather than contemporary occult shorthand. Each element was conceived to feel native to the universe Eggers created: unfamiliar to the modern eye, but possessing the unsettling authority of something old. Even the instruction “BREKE ÞE SEAL” transforms the simple act of opening a fragrance into a threshold between worlds. The collection extends beyond perfume into incense and ritual objects.
THE INVOCATION OF THE WULF pairs incense with a sculptural burner and printed invocation, drawing inspiration from the ritualistic world of the film. The incense itself was produced in Los Angeles across the full moons of July, August and September, transforming its manufacture into an act of repetition, intention and ceremony.
For the collection’s most rarefied expression, Little reunited with artist and designer Evan Sugarman of Parts of Four to create a limited-edition parfum extrait housed within a handmade reliquary. Constructed from steel, custom hardware and hand-carved wood, the object combines the uncompromising material language of Parts of Four with Heretic’s approach to scent. Inside rests a French ground-glass flacon sealed with a stopper, containing a concentrated expression of WERWULF composed without alcohol. Only 250 will be produced. The result is less perfume presentation than artifact: an object intended to feel discovered rather than manufactured. The collection also includes a sculptural silver collaboration with From the Silver Screen, continuing the exploration of transformation through an object depicting the dual nature of man and beast.
For Little, the project became an investigation into fragrance’s unusual ability to collapse the distance between history and imagination. “Robert’s films create worlds that feel extraordinarily researched but completely visceral,” says Little. “I wanted the fragrance collection to operate in the same way. We weren’t interested in simply illustrating a werewolf. We wanted to ask what the forest smelled like, what fear smelled like, what transformation smelled like-what might remain in the earth after the story had passed through it.”
“Smell is uniquely connected to memory, and that made fragrance an extraordinary way into this world. The collection became a series of imagined remnants-things that might have survived from Werwulf: a bottle, a warning, a symbol, a ritual, a scent.” The result is a collection suspended somewhere between historical object and cinematic apparition.
Not an interpretation of WERWULF.
A fragment of its world.

ABOUT DOUGLAS LITTLE / HERETIC PARFUM
Douglas Little is the founder, perfumer and Executive Creative Director of Heretic Parfum, the Los Angeles fragrance house known for exploring the mysterious, sensual and feral aspects of nature.
Founded in 2015, Heretic approaches fragrance as a form of storytelling-drawing upon botanical materials, traditional perfumery, history, ritual and the natural world’s stranger corners to create scents and objects for those drawn to unconventional beauty.
Working from Heretic’s Los Angeles studio, Little has developed an olfactory language that is seductive, atmospheric and frequently unsettling, using fragrance to make the invisible perceptible.
His work has included collaborations spanning film, fashion, art and culture, including projects with Focus Features, Robert Eggers, Gwyneth Paltrow/goop, Edward Gorey and Parts of Four.
The WERWULF collection continues Heretic’s exploration of scent as an instrument of transformation-using fragrance not simply to describe a world, but to allow the wearer to enter it.
THE BEAST LIVES WITHIN.
